Golf Lessons
They say you can't buy a better golf game. Well that's a matter of opinion. But one thing's for sure. Taking golf lessons can definitely help your game.
Now I haven't taken many lessons myself. I was always too cheap to spend the money. I learned on my own from books and by hitting balls on the range. But all the pros have teachers and coaches and there is a good reason for it. You learn quicker and you avoid developing bad habits.
So How Do You Go About Getting Golf Lessons?
All good golf courses have either teachers or resources for finding teachers. Many driving ranges do to. Golf lessons are not hard to find. The question is 'how do you find lessons that are right for you?'
Actually except for issues of personal chemistry, it's probably hard to get bad golf instruction if you are a beginner. Learning a few of the basic fundamentals that all decent golfers understand can only help.
Now if you are an advanced golfer finding a good golf instructor may be a bit harder. Your needs may be very specific and the particular direction your game may need to go may point to instructors with different skill sets.
For example...
If your weakness is your short game, you may need a teacher who has skills in that area. If you need to improve your driving you want to find a golf teacher who can help in that area and knows the issues for that skill set.
Finding Local Golf Instructors
If there are good golf teachers in your area most really good players will know where they are. Check your local golf store or your favorite golf course and just ask the pro or anyone working behind the counter. I bet they'll know how to find them. If you've got a good driving range in your area I bet they have golf instructors on staff.
The LPGA offers a search function to help you find a good teacher in your area. Click on this link to use their search page.
